?️ Article 1: How to Create a Bootable USB Drive (Windows & Ubuntu)
Bootable USB drives are used to install or repair operating systems.
You will need:
A USB drive (8 GB or more)
A Windows computer with internet
The ISO file (Windows or Ubuntu installer image)
Part A: Create Bootable USB for Windows 10/11
Step 1: Download Windows ISO
Visit Microsoft’s official site:
Windows 10: https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows10
Windows 11: https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11
Click Download ISO. Save it to your computer.
Step 2: Download Rufus
Go to https://rufus.ie
Download the latest Rufus portable version (no install needed).
Step 3: Insert USB Drive
Plug in your USB drive (8 GB+).
Backup data – it will be erased.
Step 4: Create Bootable USB
Open Rufus.exe.
Under Device, select your USB drive.
Under Boot Selection, click Select and choose the Windows ISO you downloaded.
Leave other settings as default (Partition scheme: GPT, Target system: UEFI).
Click Start.
Rufus will warn you that data will be erased – click OK.
Wait until it says Ready.
✅ Your Windows USB installer is ready.
Part B: Create Bootable USB for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
Step 1: Download Ubuntu ISO
Visit https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop
Download Ubuntu 22.04 LTS ISO.
Step 2: Download Rufus or Balena Etcher
You can use Rufus (same as Windows steps) OR
Use Balena Etcher: https://etcher.balena.io
Step 3: Insert USB Drive
Plug in USB drive (8 GB+).
Backup data.
Step 4: Create Bootable USB with Etcher (easiest for Ubuntu)
Open Balena Etcher.
Click Flash from file → choose Ubuntu ISO.
Click Select target → pick your USB drive.
Click Flash.
Wait for process to finish.
✅ Your Ubuntu USB installer is ready.
General Hints ????
Always use a good quality USB (slow USB can fail).
If one method fails, try the other tool (Rufus or Etcher).
After creating, test USB by restarting computer and pressing F9 (HP laptops) to open boot menu.
